Service normally includes 1 or 2 prenatal visits, on-call availability for weeks 37-42 of pregnancy, labour attendance, a postpartum visit and phone/text/email support for the duration of the contract. The safety net of a back-up doula (in case the primary doula has an emergent conflict) is included in the contract.
A doula's role is to provide information, facilitate communication and give physical and emotional comfort.
